Kokane wrote and recorded "No Pain No Gain" with longtime collaborator Cold 187 as a dedication to his homies who had recently passed away back in 1994. The song appeared on Kokane's second solo album Funk Upon a Rhyme on Ruthless Records.

But now the song is featured on Kokane's 24th Anniversary album and dedicated to the memory of his longtime mentor Eazy-E, groupmate KMG (Above The Law), singer Nate Dogg and Bay Area Legend Tha Jacka!
